With a high demand on image acquisition, a certain level of intelligence is required from the systems nowadays.
An intelligent camera (sensor) is able to process large amounts of data immediately due to its simple programming or parameterization and only pass on the results to the image data analysis. This is a considerable relief for image processing.
It also includes an intelligent lighting system. In complex applications a special timing of the lighting and/or a special trigger sequence is often required, which in turn requires a certain degree of intelligence. Programmable lighting controls are helpful here.
A "turnkey" product today is therefore based on an imaging sensor with computer unit, which is equipped with a specific application software, as well as the corresponding optics with an adapted illumination, integrated in a housing.
