1980 The company was founded with the objective to provide customers with adaptions for special applications in conjunction with microscopes and other Leica products as well as to develop customized microscopy-based custom solutions.
1993 Publishing of our first catalogue with product descriptions of our most popular adaptation possibilities for different applications and configuration charts for easier understanding.
1996 Product expansion comprising video microscopes and additional components in our mechanical construction scheme.
1997 Factory move to Gräfelfing (which is located near Munich), acquiring over 200% more floor space.
1998 First full service development and delivery of a turnkey system solution in the field of semiconductors, product control automation and medical technology.
1999 Staff size doubled, participation in the Semicon Munich, Control Sinsheim and Productronica Munich exhibitions, official representative for Thales Optem Inc. in Germany.
2000 Opening new branch office in the East (close to Dresden) and Centre (near Frankfurt) of Germany, start of our ‘solino’ Internet Shop.
2001 Implementation of Navision Financials to handle the entire enterprise resource planning (ERP) and financial accounting.
2004 Opto expands further and acquires another 1200 sqm.
2005 Opto celebrates its 25th Anniversary.
2006 Opto expands to the UK, with a branch office near to Liverpool. Opto becomes member of EMVA, VDMA and AIA. Second edition of the solino web page and the launch of our Yellow and Green line solino catalogues.
2007 solino product catalogues for Components and Inspection Systems are issued.
2008 Opto acquires the company “Feinwerktechnik Riedi” to complete its own in-house mechanical production facility and expands to France with foundation of Opto France S.A.R.L..
2009 Opto expands to UK with foundation of Opto UK Ltd. in Bromborough (near Liverpool)
