Since Opto was established in 1980 it has become a leading supplier and manufacturer of specialist optical systems with a technical orientation to stereo and video microscopy, zoom optics and custom mechanics. Mechanics

In any optomechanical solution, a balance in applying both optical and mechanical innovation is critical. Here at Opto, we are proud to employ some of the industry’s most experienced mechanical designers from a diversity of high technology backgrounds. One of the keys to the success of our business is in the close alignment of our optical expertise with this advanced mechanical knowledge base in order to create the most innovative optomechanical modules.

Optics

Here at Opto, it's our efficient leverage of existing technologies which enables us to remain competitive, and our ability to push the boundaries of what is possible with standard product. For this reason, we frequently utilise and modify commercially available optics as well as manufacturing our own components in order to meet the requirements of a project.

Electronics

Increasingly, the integration of electronic modules into our optomechanical modules and systems is more and more commonplace. Whether it be the simple integration of a smart sensor controlling an adaptive optic, to the full electronic interface of one of our optoelectronic modules to a customer's machine, our electronic design team has the knowledge and experience to realize the most effective solutions.

Software

In the case of our analysis systems, we integrate and specify the capabilities of market leading packages, and increasingly, develop our own ‘under the hood’ applications working inside these packages.

Stereo Microscopy

Technical excellence and customisation in stereo microscopy is the foundation on which we have built our business. Today, we routinely integrate and modify stereo microscope optics into our modules and systems, and are proud to be considered one of the market leaders in this field. We offer a wide range of customisation, accessories, and unique system add-ons for all the big microscopy brands.

Machine Vision

Zoom systems, fixed magnifications, customized solutions – modules combining optics, mechanics, illumination, cameras and/or software is another center of expertise for us. Our unique specialism is our ability to apply our extensive knowledge of technical microscopy to specialist micro-machine vison.
